蟹状星云的合成照片
梅西耶天体第一号，M1，是900多年前宋朝人曾经观察到的一颗超新星的遗迹。超新星是大质量恒星死亡时发生的爆发现象。
这张图由三个著名的天文台的数据合成，钱德拉、哈勃、斯必泽（Chandra, Hubble, and Spitzer），蓝紫色代表X射线，绿色代表可见光，红色代表红外线。星云的中心有一脉冲星。星云位于金牛座。
