南天纸风车：旋涡星系M83

M83是空中最近最亮的星系之一，在长蛇座，双筒望远镜可见，宏伟的旋臂使它得到了南天纸风车的绰号。尽管250年前就被发现了，但也是近期才知道M83不是星云而是象我们银河系一样的星系。M83是1500万光年远星系群的一个成员，该星系群还包括半人马A、NGC5253等。M83中发现了好几个明亮的超新星，其中心发现了两个绕中心的环。
