梅西耶67星团

聚集在照片中央的M67，是已知最老的疏散星团之一。尽管疏散星团通常很年轻，M67却有40亿高龄，年龄和元素丰度都与太阳相似。疏散星团常常比较年轻，因为随着时间的推移，他们在绕着星系中心转的时候，逐渐被遇到的其它恒星、星际云的引力潮驱散。M67却留下来了，它包含500多颗恒星，离我们2800光年远，在巨蟹座。据距离估计，M67直径12光年。
